Skating is well under way and we have some exciting club events coming up!
SOLO TRY-OUTS:
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 2nd 5:00 - 8:30
(Skaters draw numbers
beginning at 5:00 and go on the ice at 5:30)
For those unfamiliar with the
process, here's how it works. Any skater who has passed Freestyle 3 may
participate. From the participants, soloists and specialty number skaters
are chosen for the Ice Show. On the night of
tryouts, skaters choose a number upon entering the rink. This determines the
skating order for the evening. The skaters then listen to a fast and a slow
song. They are then sent into the locker room to prepare their program. The
skaters are not allowed to watch until AFTER they have skated. Parents are
welcome to stay and watch, as well as other club members interested in
seeing what it's all about.
****IMPORTANT
REMINDER****
Ice Show costume forms and money
MUST be turned in on or before the night of try-outs. Skaters who do not
have this turned in will not be allowed to try out.
Dress
Exhibition: Monday, January 7
Remember to dress for pictures! Pictures for the scrapbook will be taken that night. Also, new this year; you will be able to order a button from that picture. Button pictures will also be taken at Ice Show time, but if you would like one in your competition dress, you can order one that night. Again, Club Members not participating are welcome and encouraged to come and watch your fellow club members prepare for competition.
SURVEY RESULTS
ARE IN!!
Results from our survey regarding CD/Rink monitor duties showed the majority were in favor of charging people $20 for each no-show. So, PLEASE check the schedule for your dates and mark your calendar. The schedule is also available on-line if you misplaced your copy. The board has come up with a plan for next year which will include a buy-out. But for this year, we will be charging those that fail to show up. Be sure to find a replacement if you are unable to make it on your assigned date. And, just a reminder, both people are required to be there.
Skaters: Please be sure to turn in your CD at the beginning of your package so it can be put in the rotation. If you do not turn it in right away, it will not be played. If you do not want to skate when your turn comes up, you can always pass. Skaters may NOT request that their music be played.
Coaches: Remember you may only request music for a skater one time each night, even if it is a different piece of music.
Rink monitors: Be sure to use the sheets in the book provided in the box with the CD player. Mark each skater off every round. If the skater passes, put "P" for pass. If their coach requests their music be played, mark "C" for coach. That is their turn for that round. They do not skate again in that round. More specific directions are provided in the book.
