RINK MONITOR DUTIES
| Rink Monitor Schedule |

·         As the rink monitor, you are the “adult in charge” of the package. Please arrive a few minutes early so that you are set up before the package begins. It is your responsibility to play cds for the skaters. You should also make sure that the skaters move off of the ice, into the boxes, if they need to talk. You may need to remind skaters to stay out of the way of skater receiving lessons or the skater who music is being played. There is a first aid kit located in the locked CIFSC box, as well as baggies which can be filled to be used as an ice pack. There is also a list of emergency contact numbers for all CIFSC skaters located in the CIFSC box (in the 3-ring binder for cd playing). Please contact a board member if there are any problems that you feel need to be addressed.

·         Make sure to check the Rink Monitor/CD Playing Schedule! You will be charged $20 for each no-show (both names listed must provide an adult for rink monitor duties; if one adult is needed for an emergency, the other adult can keep cds playing).  If the date you are scheduled doesn’t work out for you, you may switch with another parent.  Please notify Sue Kulich if you switch dates with someone (so you won't be charged if your replacement is a no-show) and she will update the schedule. Also, let Sue know if you fill in for someone who was a no-show, so you can receive credit for doing so (you will also receive the credit if no one shows up and you are the only rink monitor).

  CD PLAYING PROCEDURES
| Copy of CD Playing Directions |

·         During the first 5 minutes of the package, skaters should give their cds to you and then warm up on the ice.  Take cds out of their cases and put in the black cd case marked “Property of CIFSC”.  (You could also keep the cds in line in their cases but make sure to never slide cds across the table as they may scratch – the black cd case helps to protect the cds for the skaters.)  During this time, enter the names of skaters who have turned in a cd on the CD Playing-Order Form (in the 3-ring binder found in the locked CIFSC box).  Remove a new form and place on top of forms used for previous packages.  Please do not remove the example from the binder.

·         After the 5 minutes of warm-up time, using the microphone, announce the first skater and the skater who is next in order. (“Alicia Jones is up; Katie Smith on deck”)

·         When the skater is in her ready position, start the cd and get the “on deck” skater’s cd out and ready.  (Make sure you set this cd on something like a case, so it doesn’t get scratched.)

·         Skaters must wear the sash when their music is being played.  The skater on deck should put on the sash as soon as she is called “on deck” so she is ready to go as soon as the previous skater’s music ends.  Please try your best to move quickly through the skaters’ cds as it will allow more opportunities for each skater to skate her program.

·         Once a skater has begun her program (except during a lesson), the cd can not be stopped and started over, unless there are technical difficulties.

·         Please announce 3 minutes before the end of the package that pick holes must be filled.  (Example: “All skaters who are not having a lesson or having their music played at this time should begin filling the pick holes.  Thank you.”)

·         Please return cds to their cases and return to the skaters at the end of the package.

·         If you are the last package of the evening, please return the 3-ring binder, cd case, cd player and sashes to the locked box (and lock it J).
