Synchronized Skating Team Guidelines/Practice Schedule
Head Coach:         Angela Hintz
Assistant Coach:    Katie Heck

It is an exciting year for the Crystal Ice Figure Skating Club’s synchronized skating teams.  For the first time we will have 3 teams, one competing at the highest level.  The new team will be called Crystal Elite.  We will continue the Point Perfection and Crystalettes teams also.  As many of you already know, USFS (US Figure Skating) has reorganized the whole synchronized skating program requiring testing for the majority of the teams.  The Point Perfection team will compete at the Beginner level and has no testing requirements but members must be at least Freestyle 1 level.  The Crystalettes will compete at the Open Juvenile level and must have passed Pre-Preliminary moves in the field test by October 31, 2006 .  The Crystal Elite team will compete at the Open Junior level and must have passed Preliminary moves in the field test by October 31, 2006 .  Team placement is not based solely on test levels.  We are hoping to take all three teams to other competitions in addition to Badger State Games.

Tryouts:  We will be having tryouts for the teams on June 9th and 10th.  These are mandatory sessions.  If you are unable to make the tryouts, you might not be considered for one of the teams.  Once the teams have been chosen, we will continue off-ice throughout the summer.  According to USFS rules, there are also limits to the number of members for each team.  Point Perfection can have 8-16 members, Crystalettes can have 8-12 members and Crystal Elite can have 12-20 members.

Rules:  In addition to the USFS rule changes, there are also some new club rules that will begin with the new skating season.  After this year, all team members wanting to try out for the next level team must have skated on a synchro team the previous year (you may not quit synchro then come back in a year or so expecting to move up to the next team).  ALL practices, both on ice and off ice are mandatory.  It is up to the discretion of Angela Hintz if a missed practice is excused.  It is not fair to the rest of the team if someone is missing; it throws the whole routine off.  All practices will be on Sundays so they don’t interfere with school sports.

Attire:  Skaters are required to wear skirts or shorts and skating tights during on-ice practices.  No baggy shirts or sweatshirts especially hooded.  Hair must be out of your face, either in a pony-tale or bun. The Point Perfection team will use the dresses from the Puttin’ on the Ritz number in the ice show.  If you don’t have one, you could either contact someone from that number to see if they want to sell it or we could order you a new one.  Crystalettes and Crystal Elite will have new dresses either purchased or custom made.  We will try to keep the price of the dress under $80.  All dresses will be worn for 2 years.

Attitude:  Come with smiles and a positive attitude.  This is a team sport, no prima-donnas allowed!  Head Coach Angela Hintz and Assistant Coach Katie Heck are the coaches, not the skaters or their parents.  Their decisions are final and will be fully supported by the CIFSC Board of Directors.
